Before I ask the Filis to come up, I'd like to read something that Baba said.

God as God Alone is not consciously man and man as man alone is not consciously God. The God-Man is consciously both God and man. So the God man is both Lord and the servant of the universe. Lord in the state of helping All Souls toward reality. Servant as continuously bearing the burden of all to serve him.

Who serves all is serving the entire universe with that? I'd like to introduce one of the nicer elements of our universe. Thank you, Debbie. Once again, it's a real pleasure to be here with my favorite League Meher Baba league.

I started thinking about a subject that I really had no particular subject, but prodded by you're very active member, Bruce Decker, I had to pin myself down to a subject. Usually I can't get started just on one particular subject. So the subject was mysticism.

And I think of the first talk I gave on mysticism was it Rutgers University by had been shoved East by my employer Mattel to The Wilds of New Jersey and then we decided to try Rutgers and see what Rutgers to do. This is in the 60-69. So Peter will remember we made big posters.

And the first big word was 'stoned' question mark on God the mysticism and higher Consciousness in small letters, but that title seemed to draw a large audience in the 60s. So that's sort of the essence of mysticism and then to Bone up for tonight. I thought I'd go back and read a little bit on mysticism of very fine book in case you have

Not read it is the Perennial Philosophy by Aldous Huxley. He kind of gathered together a great deal of information a tremendous book list in the back. Excellent book list for reading up on basic knowledge about mysticism, but somehow all of a sudden I was doing this little mental research again.

And all of a sudden the image came as I picked up actually this little locket and I was thinking of a little locket that Baba gave me in 1956 Baba came to the West again. I had met him already in 52 and one afternoon. We had the women were all invited to Bobby's house in Myrtle Beach in the center. We didn't know exactly what would happen Baba called us into his bedroom. He was seated on the bed and he had spread out on the bed all these little trinkets and little necklaces and pins and things and Mehera had picked them out and said this one for so and so and then Baba sat there, the God man sat there, He said I just don't remember which one you know, it was so sweet the way he just picked up a locket that this Mehera wanted you to have this locket and I just some have thought of that whole personal loving thing that Baba did, you know, just like a human being with a little gift that someone's given him to give to you and how meaningful

It was when Baba took the lock and he just put it in my hand like that and also a lock of His hair that Mehera had given. She always has Baba's hair saved and this was a lock of hair given. It was the lock of hair when he was young. So it's red, bobblehead red and this little Personal Touch and moment was the Avatar just tumbled down all these areas of mysticism the ground and the void the things that these Scholars and people write about so much always steps to God and so far it's like that Personal Touch from the personal Avatar is just the Human Side Of God that is so difficult to explain to people perhaps of get into the mental side of discoursing on the way and the illumination and the 49 steps and all of it.

As you know, it's interesting St. John of the Cross wrote this beautiful book Ascent of Mount Carmel, which is probably the most classic essay on the mystical path and he describes the 49 steps and again Baba and another place has said there's of course the seven spiritual planes and that they're divided into seven different planes departments on each plane. So 7 times 7 is 49 so it's like the accentuation of these facts of the spiritual path, but just to be clear about what the Mystic path is as distinguished from the use of the word. It's used very badly even now although so much more has been written about it and come out and translations and so forth as distinguish between the use of the word.

Mystic meaning just mysterious a strange occult psychic. That's the course use the word and really a misuse of the word. It should be used as everyone Underhill has stated which is another very careful scholar on the whole thing as the way toward Union with God. That's the only way that the word should be used correctly the mytic path. Mysticism is the technique of reaching Union with God. That's the correct use the word. It shouldn't be used like for something strange or weird or far out as today's word is. But of course it is misused that word.

And the mystics of all ages and all religions really find the same truths as they Journey on this Inner Path and as an Eclectic student you find that out you read the lives of the Saints of Buddhism or Islam or Christianity they speak about the same stages really of the of the mystical path and of course Baba describes it in fresh language.

Think what turn me on so much is after reading all the old classics and then turning to Baba and he simplifies things so beautifully that you realize aside from just what Baba is personally as a teaching as a word communication Baba has done a tremendous job in reaching forward to the mind in his language in his way of describing the real mystical path or is he calls it the path of love? That's why I named the book I did of Baba's excerpts the path of Love. This is the shortcut. In the mystical way.

So to x out what Ordinary People call Mystic is important in the beginning the difference between psychic our calls and mystical should be clarified. Now this briefly say that the psychic is when the human ability to sense different phenomena reaches the astral w orld, which is the semi subtle world or some stage.

Phase out of it and you do that in the physical body with the physical means but just a little bit off center from here use of the brain. It's like an ordinary ability. The ESP. The occult is a little bit different from that. It's where you develop certain powers and also only reach the lower levels not the spiritual plane. However a person on the spiritual planes may have occult powers if there are still ache and the ultimate and occult powers, of course is the person on the fourth plane using these occult Powers, but neither one of the person who's a psychic or an alcohol test as anything to do with mysticism or the Inner Path of love and this is important to distinguish, especially now and so many people out there who are doing research in Psychology parapsychology holistic health all sorts of angles are studying old text old tantric texts or yoga texts or old mystical documents and they're taking the language of these different experiential documents and mixing them in with their physics with their holistic health with this and that they're kind of pushing the language together without the real basic experiences most of the time so it's going to be very confusing out there. And especially when you want to speak clearly about the Inner Path a spiritual path. So language becomes very important to clarify your terminology and there again, Baba has given us a fresh start especially in God speaks.

And then of course in the discourses speaking about things in his own way clarifying this steps the planes, experiences, in a fresh way.

So we can't urge anyone enough this study Baba of first before of course many people come to Baba through studying other types of things, but by presenting a new language structure for these basic ideas Baba has done a great deal. He doesn't stop to argue. This doesn't mean that and those people were wrong and this group miss understood the whole thing and so forth.

Just kind of leaps ahead and gives you a fresh start and I think that's a very wonderful thing because terminology is very important in communication. However, it doesn't help too much very little with the real experience. Now, what does Baba do about mystical experience?

The steps and the classic mystical approach. They've know they're these 49 steps of basically you come as a seeker and you surrender as a Seeker.

You go through various stages of mostly purgation, you know / that Purgatory purging your ego of certain basic things before you're ready to experience some of the higher higher experiences on the path, which are basically different phases of Love The Mystic path is toward Union with a beloved with God and so it is like a love affair it has stages and they have these classic names for the stages. But what Baba does and I'm speaking a little bit from my own experiences He gives you these little glimpses little drops of his love in different ways, depending on your particular nature and that's what makes you feel so much that Baba is who Hhe is. He knows completely your own nature. So if he wants to give you the little carrot, you know the Gilded carrot in front of you. He'll give you what you particularly respond to.

And that's very important because in other groups are other studies or paths. Someone is applying so called a technique, you know a standard technique to you and it may fit your may not depending on how how advanced that teacher is but with Baba and he knows because he's God he's the God within so he knows you from within it's like he knows just absolutely what you need at that particular moment.

So his love takes for you a particular form that I know you've all experienced that that's why you're sitting here. You have felt somehow that love in some way. I doubt very much was too many people come to Baba. So totally through the intellect not putting down your intellect folks, but it's really your heart that has responded to Bab a. However, Baba has given this great Um discourse, you know counting the whole thing is one large discourse are teaching and for example, when we were there with Baba in 1962, he said I want you all to read God speaks 10 times, which was nice. I don't know whether I've actually done it 10 times and then he looked around and say but for you all that matters is love is that he'd say one thing I one side and another thing.

He said it's for the what is that where I know it's not the confusion of the intellect convulsion of the intellect of the future God speak this and somehow you all know that it does give you a little bit of a convulsion on the other hand. You only have to have been a student which I was a little bit of some other discipline like I studied Buddhism as I thought that was the most rational and advance of them all.

To know how clarified Baba is in his presentation of a cosmetology to cause Cosmos cosmos A metaphysics because he doesn't bother with all the other stuff. He just goes right to the point.

In simple language not creating a whole new language is just what so many people do when they just use the into it.

And the basic point about Union with God Baba emphasizes, but he gives the technique basically of concentrating on himself.

As a personal Avatar you can see that Baba is stresses that when you meet him personally or in his words his teachings meditate on him. Say his name the Mantra he like I introduce one boy to Baba who had you know gone through a whole number of studying all these other things. He said to Baba give me a mantra and Baba said I don't give mantras, but take my Name. So there you have the whole thing about mantras and when that take my name.

And the same way with another woman Gala Arcanko. I introduce Baba. She said Baba. I like to meditate.

And would you meditate with me that was kind of interesting said would you meditate with me, you know you have about three minutes with Paloma and these interviews and Baba nods his head now. We're all quiet.

And Baba just was silent with her and it's like he answered that particular need for that person. That was just very abstract. Very mental type of person.

Another type of way Baba emphasizes to reach Union with him is of course service to him. There are a lot of people who don't meditate or who don't have that kind of emotional or devotional way of spending their time. They just serving Baba at constantly and I feel that Baba actually accentuated that more than anything.

You can see that in the Mandali. That's the way they've been. Brought close to Baba and serving him just in fulfilling what he wants in total surrender and obedience to him. As Baba said obedience is greater than love and in that way they've prepared their Mystic path through service the three basic paths as you all know the service which is karma yoga and the bhakti yoga which is devotion. And then the jani yoga which is the mental more or less mental not in the ordinary sense of intellect but you know mind control total absorption, which is very stressed in Buddhism.

It's like Baba has accentuate for our Modern Age service in action the karma yoga with concentration on him which is like a little of the bhakti and maybe the jani yoga's a mental stillness of the mind. They see jani yoga is the whole effort to control the mind and make it into that beautiful mirror.

Rawley, they call him readies and Sanskrit, but all the vibrations of the Mind are stilled enough like a lake is still and you can you know, it's perfectly still becomes like a mirror and then you experience who you really are through that type of thing. But what about the person who's just a servant who does only serving constantly out in the world that was Baba as way so much. I remember there was a dear person, Sam Cohen who is an excellent meditator. He was just you know, that was his natural Dharma his natural feeling and Baba invited him to the ashram in India, but he couldn't help falling into his meditative mood. Baba would come along and hit him on the butt, you know get going grind the corn wash the nuts constant activity and it was just too much for him. It was really he asked.

Baba in the end. I just this is you know, not suitable for me and you see it wasn't just his path. Although he had the grace to be there with Baba, but he just couldn't take you know changes nature that much but he always loved Baba and he had some beautiful inner experiences of Baba as the ancient one. He was Jewish and background and you know, the Bible the Old Testament stresses the Ancient One if you

Wonder where Baba, you know when he says I am the Ancient One. It's very very related to that concept from the Old Testament the angel.

So Baba, actually, I feel stressed all three according to your nature and would give you more of what you needed.

Speaking for myself. I am more of a bhakti type. I'm not so good at the karma yoga make too many mistakes and stumble along and my mind isn't still enough for the conference. But the devotion of seems a little bit more natural for me and Baba did give me some really little sweet meats as they come.

Consolation is the old-fashioned mystical word for it and you're not supposed to be attached to them right now. But Baba has his little way of giving you this little drop of love in your particular fashion, and it's for example when I would get a cable from Baba and sometimes they just come out of the blue now particular reason you just said, I love you or something with it, and I would be coming home from work on the stuff.

And I had fallen to this real state of bliss, you know, not even go way past my station and all the way up to the Bronx snoring. It's because I'd come home finally get there and on my door would be a cable from Baba in say he sent that love so strong with the letter the letter was just a sample of in the gross relevant. So it's like a little sweet meat of love that Baba wood send it would just knock me out.

So that's a certain thing you're supposed to in the mystical path be able to achieve if you do it, right, you know, you're going along the steps, but obviously Baba by Grace gave it to her as a big difference by being out there and being able to do it on your own and you know being so so one point is that you cannot attain that state but it's like Baba and knowing that you aren't there gives you a little taste of it or sometimes it was me. If you give me a so-called Vision, you know, so an experience of Baba like I'd see Baba and I'll share one very beautiful one I had for Baba. This was in 1956

No, it's 58 in Myrtle Beach and you know, we're running around all day with Baba and it's very exhausting both physically and emotionally and mentally and everything because Baba is kind of drawing your energy. so like that food out and says he pinches here.

And uses it for his Universal word and that's another thing about meditating. When Baba gave us something to meditate on or to say the prayers of certain times for certain periods, repeat a sentence sometimes for 40 days. You had to repeat something 500 times a day. He said you're helping me in my universal work and this is sort of unique because you weren't doing it just to like in the old classic mystical way to purge yourself of sanskaras and so forth. You're helping him by focusing on something that he asked you to do. It's not like your own kind of meditation. So in 58, it was fun to be with Baba in many ways and Baba was constantly working on your ego chipping it off knocking it up.

But then I had a bad hip to and I was real tired and the beds there were terrible, you know big lumpy terrible at least a bit. I had it was very hard to fall asleep. I finally feel like I can see it laughing David proved the beds at the better. Don't don't get me wrong. It's a beautiful place but this particular venue and have finally I fell asleep.

And suddenly I wake up and it's bright daylight outside of the Youpon Dunes the bush you pain these were shining and glimmering I jump up and look at the windows beautiful blue sky, but there was Baba by my window standing there and the light was coming out of him. It was midnight actually, but the light from Baba was so tremendous that it lit up the whole being outside of my cabin window.

And I just kept falling into Baba and he kept getting brighter and brighter and I was just probably ready to completely lose Consciousness. And then I heard His voice say you will see me after I dropped the body. So it's like a promise from Baba. And it reminded me of the time, you know, there's a little bit that this course is like when the master said it was not a day but it was really nice. It's a he was really the like that made it they and I just think you see Baba and says I am not this body. Okay, so that there was as many times this is am not this body. I wear it to visit you. I wear it like a garment to visit you but then I saw him in the subtle body obviously wasn't standing outside my cabin His physical form.

This was his subtle body. That was so bright. But then the body that body began to disappear and only this brilliant brilliant light. It's a which actually probably I just couldn't take more than certain amount and and then immediately became dark it was midnight again father had vanished and I fell asleep again on this rocky bed, but that was a little taste you see from my nature to understand many things but you know, it was like an experience that summarizes so many things. First of all, the love was intense the promise from Baba that he'd always be with me. The fact that God is really light. He's not the body. It's not subtle or that grosses, you know, the next step up that I could see was light.

So it's like you begin to see the union ahead of you you begin to you just feel a tiny tiny bit of it and that course.

Creates this tremendous addictive behavior. I believe the psychologist you get addicted to God. I mean you just tell you know, it's like your fruit but excuse me, but you are a drug generation of first draw drunk, you know, you're really gonna with ... and that's what Baba does it's not like you were on that level or you know you attain that level to have that experience. It's a gift and I think this is very important to me. Anyway that the gift is from Baba. He's pulling you along by his little little gifts and they can be all kinds that that isn't the only kind that was very spectacular. But also you get a Feeling.

That he's with you without any kind of dazzling light or anything. I get that sometimes now, it's not any kind of optical feeling at all. It's just that He's there or like the Bible says, it's Everlasting Arms. You know, that's the way He's like He's there and you suddenly, you know a little quiet moment you feel it that God is really present. He's not gone. He's not gone away. He never did move anywhere. It's just that for those 75 years he took on a garment, you know that you could play with you if it relates to and that he could do His work through.

So

That's the gift of the personal side of God to manifest like that. But you have to always remember he has the impersonal side a little amusing thing at comes back to memory about that.

I had helped prepare a home of house ready for Him andHis group of about 18 people that were going to stay in this one house after the accident Baba came up in July 1952 back to New York and so long story that I was lucky to find this place and the house belonged to a lady named Kate Ferris and we had you know work I've ones off to get it all ready for Baba and Baba is going to come that morning from the train station Shani was driving here and I hadn't seen him since the accident so Kate who is the owner of the house insisted. She was going to stand on the front steps and offer the key the house to Baba, you know, and I thought no wait a minute. I think Baba is going to come in the back and I stood on the back that we have slime and so course Baba became they drove him into the back. And yeah there I saw my first ones to follow with this with the you know the cast on his arm and honest like it was so it Baba didn't want me to feel sad. You know, he immediately went like this, you know, and meanwhile Kate was standing there with so Baba immediately had someone call for her, you know embraced her and we had a little discussion of that, you know.

Many things later and I said something about loving Baba her and she said oh that's personal love, you know, the way I expressed my love. Oh, that's personal, you know and at that moment, I felt very offended not offended but I felt she doesn't understand. I love Baba as a human being, you know, the personal side of God, but as years went by I saw her point of view too that, you know that there is this other side of looking at Baba as the impersonal God too He is both and sometimes you know, you have to balance it Viewpoint. So I got I got a little bit and then I think that Baba express some of these things so beautifully the first I read some of these little things like from St. Theresa. Baba has spent time with us in 52 in the evening. We have this privilege of being alone with Baba just the women involved and that was really something special little topics would come up here and they're just very, you know, improvised little conversations with Baba one time. He said my four favorite Saints are saying St. Theresa S.Francis, St. Augustine and St. Catherine of Siena and it just happened that my friend Adele and I Adele more than myself because she was getting this degree at Columbia and religion had studied all these four Saints very much it chosen as their masters first. Well, I think it was platanias and then this would have been the in St. Augustine then she switched the St. Francis and we'd also studied think so and St. Teresa's in there. So this is from Saint Teresa.

If obedience employees you in outward things know that even if you are in the kitchen our Lord moves amidst the pots and pans helping us both within and without

And it's a beautiful thought put in there because it's just like Baba, you know, go grind the corn go wash the dishes. You know, Baba has given us this daily Sacrament, you know, whatever you do you do for Baba. That's the karma the loving action way to prepare for a mystical Union and that was the gift of St. Therese, especially if you know, her life was to choose a very active lady.

And also Brother Lawrence wrote beautifully that the practice of the presence of God, he was in the kitchen. He did work in the kitchen banging pots and somehow I really related to that because in the early years at Myrtle Beach I'm a terrible cook. I was never everyone else in my family could cook beautifully and I couldn't do anything. So where did I land up as cooking for everybody at the center on this little two burner butane stove 30 people in a hurricane making rice.

Baba you know He could have chosen anyone worse, it would have been so in the pots and pans you sometimes and I serve Baba have to think of Baba whatever you're doing in life. And that is Baba is said for the West that kind of Karma Yoga. He certainly threw everybody out.

Into the world again like these three women through whom I met Baba they were with Baba for a while here and there and then Nasik ashram for six months and then Baba sent them to the west and they had to be out in the world serving him there.

And they were beautiful example of Love In Action not being contemplatives. Or if bhakti-yoga types devotional but having that devotion and that contemplation only in action and doing day-to-day things.

Baba said Saint Teresa was one of his favorite saints.

But actually this brings back a little further. I'm wandering as usual but when I first came to be with Baba there I was Baba as guests in 52 and because I had done so much of this type of thing for hearing.... I was helping Kitty was washing up the dishes and stuff and old kitchen original the phone rings and it's Rano and it's a message from Baba says Phyllis and Adele or not to do anything while they might guess the standing it cancel out any you know, any of those things which is a very sweet cut.

That we were his guests so we weren't doing the dishes as a silver and see how God kind of spoils you a little bit, you know after you is like a little you know up and down.

By the way, Kitty's book is a delightful story of her many years with Baba. I don't think anyone actually has spent so many years with Baba and written about all those different phases of Baba's life. She meets Him in the 30s. She goes to India. She's with him in Europe and so on comes with him to America goes through the new life all the way along her last 25 or so years at the center.

All doing the karma yoga, mostly Beautiful Stories. I certainly recommend it's just a fantastic, but I haven't even quite finished it yet. But talk about a modern St. Therese get my vote. And here are some other neat things I thought.

One of the most famous writers at least and mystics was Master Eckhart God expects but one thing of you and that is that you should come out of yourself in so far as you are a created being and let God be God in you.

And conception and let Baba in him.

God is bound to act to pour himself into thee as soon as he shall find the ready.

And Baba would say the same thing. How can I enter your heart if it's filled with other things and there was a little drama to that one time when we were had finished ourselves without it was 58 and we were allowed to be with Baba driving with him to the airport and Wilmington.

North Carolina's very early in the morning and I was just in sieve... And now following buy this car we've the first car behind Baba this car first driven by Elizabeth and beautiful sunrise with driving about an hour I think to Wilmington and we would got there and was sitting in the lounge of this little airport. I guess we had to wait an hour or so for the plane and Baba was so beautiful. It just was there when it was about as

Well by half as many as you are here being there with Him and He was in a Jolly mood and he said, you know little things and everything I've written down in the Awakener and but there was one car filled with a couple of people and they came in late. They had stopped to have breakfast. She was early in the morning. They came in late just before Baba was in and Baba looked at this one particular person. I think I think don't know they tapped out that very beautiful thing.

God is always anxious to enter your heart. But how can he when there are others there?

I'm just paraphrasing. I should have written down the actual quote but you felt that here you have this incredible last chance to be with Baba the Beloved and they had stopped to chat and probably have their little fun and waiting to go home to friends family husband's whatever just you know, that last moment another little drama about that.

And morning with Baba was Charles Purdom because he writes that himself the day before the last day of Baba at The Center. He slammed his thumb in the door of a car and you know, how painful and he was an older man then and he was really in pain and so on he decided not to be with us on this little jaunt to the airport, you know, you getting up early and making his journeys.

Good nuff reason, but then later on because it came over him which does happen with Baba and he kind of almost plans it, you know, it's like he's working with you. It just struck him so much that he had missed this one more hour with Baba just struck him so much. They just, you know, Baba does that to you try to rings out the sponge and I fills up the sponges love and

Your rings it out with some thing that you miss, you know, are you goof what you goof? I mean it, you know, he trips you up that way just found to do it because that's how the Beloved makes you long for him. But you feel it you missed an opportunity and another one. There was a chance for anybody who wanted to to go on with Baba from Myrtle Beach.

Out west, you know another whole week with Baba almost it's more than a week. So I happen to be standing right there. It was a very affecting moment. He had asked Baba he's blind so blind chiropractor if he could feel Baba face and Baba had promised him and this was like he was leaving on the train or something.

And I was just just about four or five feet away and there he came and he felt Baba's face, you know, it was such an affecting moment. Here's the silent man and the blind disciple the silent Nesmith - so then Baba gestures, you know, are you coming with me for the rest of the trip? So he says no Baba. I have my practice. I you know, I have to go back to my patients and I have a substitute bath and all that stuff.

And I said, you know I could see what the sky.

Well, what happened was of course the minute that we got out here are the minute he got back home. He too went through this tremendous remorse is that he didn't sacrifice everything and be with us and he bombarded by was telegrams and he'll phone calls. He wanted to join. Baba says no and for him that also is a tremendous moment in his life.

You really appreciated Baba is see it was obviously in how Baba does this.

So that you've it makes the love flow more because you realize you miss him and I went through the same thing. I have to tell a story of myself to I so this was in 52 again with this place where Baba come back up to New York, and we were out in the garden and it was a beautiful moment. We had many lovely things. That's when Baba looked at me and he said,

How do I look and here's Baba, you know, his nose had been broken his mouth is and smashed and he was in the wheelchair and always cement on and stuff and I said Baba look beautiful. That's always the right answer by the way get ready. And so then he said America was after my blood for a long time. It's really the first time I heard anyway a short time after.

So there was another little part of the garden and Baba went like this beckoning me to embrace him and I don't know to this day why I just couldn't do it. I couldn't I don't know whether because He had the cast on or Hhe was naked to the waist or some sanskara came up and to me I just was too shy to go in and embrace Him.

Amira was standing right here. So I went and embrace her in Baba's eyes, you know and some psychology to it that I you know some real thing but I'll pay of never forgotten that chance. You see I think of Baba a more then probably if I did embrace it see how Baba works on your psyche is just incredible you the chance you miss gets to be like the Pearl and

When you're ready the next time it's a to to you know, jump jump more for it. And that is the whole Baba is a master of Love. Let me tell you he's the master of and it's just an amazing thing with all the types of people. This is here. You're from full of people here all you're all so incredibly different because you've gone through such incredible different lives of karma.

And Baba a knows that so his little game with you be totally different from a little game with the other one and you can do it all at once, you know, like a grand opera director Shakespeare this incredible to watch but he knows exactly how to press your lowest, you know, the cliche of today is press your button. He just knows your particular thing that you need to learn to love him more to bring

That love and it may be like I say one of these missed chance, you know is very particular. Now, this is not a I've gotten completely off the subject of mysticism. I beg your pardon but here is how Baba

Distinguish between love and devotion. Now this really one saw very much around Baba.

How people differed in their expression love and devotion.

Love Burns the lover devotion burns the the Beloved.

Love seeks happiness for the Beloved devotion seeks blessings from the Beloved love seeks to shoulder the burden of the Beloved.

Devotion throws the burden on the Beloved

Love gives devotion asks.

Love is silent and Sublime devoid of outward expression.

Devotion Expresses itself outwardly

Love does not require the presence of the Beloved in order to love.

Devotion demands the presence of the Beloved to express affection for the Beloved.

And hanging around Baba has one does one gets a little chance there you see the devotion.

And the love you see well just give a very brief difference between the old disciples like kitty or Elizabeth around Baba who they'd had a chance. They weren't, you know, maybe they start like everybody else. But by the time I'd seen them as the love was there and not the devotion whereas all newcomers were piling devotion, and you could really see if that Baba joked one time and Indie said

When they were, you know that it's a custom in Hindi rituals to throw red powder on these Gods statues. So they come and throw red powder at Baba get this eyes, you know, it would say they think I'm a statue and they would throw coconuts it by the feet or take that baby and you know, just bang Baba is feet of the head of the baby, you know, and pile Garland's and Baba, you know, and

Stephen 62. That's when I saw so much of that here was Baba had incredible pain yet osteoarthritis of the neck, which I believe is incredibly painful from bowing down for so many years to the floor and other things like that and people would pile garlands on you know are it should quickly, you know, take them off and this heap of Garland's Rose as high as this room, but Baba very sweetly. Let them once put it on.

You sinned and he was giving in but I had a chance to see a slightly different picture by got there early one time in the morning before anybody about was just on the porch to serv..for side and Margaret passed his death and Baba was so to speak without his mask of being beautiful and you know, he was just an old man incredibly ill and incredibly tired. They've been giving dharshan.

So from 7 in the morning to 8:00 at night for days, you know, and he his eyes are ready was just and Market amazing it bothered you need he want he she always carried some aspirin. It was just like immediately she reacted to that. I don't know what the Baba took her. And I don't remember but it was it was just that immediate feeling for Baba.

But then just then somebody else came up oh Baba, you know, I must have you know some big problem and you know immediately wanted Baba to pay all attention to

And Baba had told us even before we came to India no questions - spiritual, material.

Don't ask me for anything spiritual material and something else anyway.

And still people did they pull down Baba that you know, they wanted is attention. They wanted to be well what career should I follow? Who should I marry you know and here was Baba.

Giving all the time, but there was Margaret you see not it was just a tiny glimpse of have someone who totally related to Baba is as the Beloved love is silent and Sublime love gives and devotion asks. We're many dramatic instances of that.

So Baba himself helps us prepare

Or Union with him by giving us little glimpses and lessons in the beginning. We were I'm speaking myself as up again. It's like Charmien said, you know when Baba is kind you, you know, you're in the kindergarten so I could say by who was kind to me, but because He knows that we don't know the lessons these tremendous Saints and disciples have been with him. Probably incredible members of *** have reached such a stage that

They're just fantastic examples of service to Baba to the Avatar. But for the rest of us, Baba gives us His little chances and once has and sweatmeats and that's what I was just sharing with you tonight, and he's still doing it don't think that is just have to open your heart a little bit Jai Baba.
