dreams-fin.mp3 Dave albo and see some nice familiar faces and some from up North and have weather deck Alan: and Ellen Bailey and anybody else I don't see visiting is Well, this is kind of a fun meeting for me. I chose my topic and I've already gotten some Flack bag. So let's fix it live and what do you mean talking about anything anyway? I think dreams are an important part of my life and Baba says so too. He describes Consciousness is divided into three major parts that ordinary life and fourth part actually for there's the beyond beyond state. The eye which is total unconsciousness, then there's the dream state. Which is still unconscious Sammy. I'll give it accurately here and Then there's the waking state which is still of course praying to God realization a dream state and then there's the fully awake state and the facts are that you know, you spend one third of your life asleep and that's a tremendous amount of time and part of that time. You are in the beyond beyond. State But a great part of that time you're in the dream state. Here's what here's how bottle lays it in. The passage from sleep to wakefulness consists in the passage from unconsciousness to subconsciousness and finally full Consciousness normally for the ordinary man these consist of sound sleep unconsciousness dreams subconsciousness of duality. Roused from sleep all consciousness of duality And then the fourth state is the fully awake state of the god realized version. Which means that he never goes to sleep again and this is interesting that Baba would say when we were with Baba. We'd ask body in the morning. You know, how did Baba asleep quote unquote and on even hold up his finger, you know, like two three meaning two or three minutes and that would only mean like his physical eyes, you know his physical body relaxing his Consciousness never goes back to the unconscious. Conscious or beyond beyond state Here's here to Ababa puts it. The person on the path And it's disciplines. It's interesting to note that the three states of a spiritual aspirant are. The beyond beyond State the same as all the rest of us that unconsciousness be experiences on the path that is on the planes which is real subconsciousness of Duality. So you have that contrast with our dreams. Subconsciousness of duality And third Rouse from all illusion of Duality that is really full consciousness of God or self. And Bababy gives a very wonderful explanation about sleep and dreaming I won't read the whole discourse to its in listen humanity and also mentioned in the discourses that It's not the body that makes you fall asleep. Now. I don't know what medical people say, you know that your brain is tired or you have something rather chemistry that puts you to sleep. They don't know Baba says that you must sleep. You must go back into the beyond beyond State because your mind can't stand the constant Duality The Impressions is struggle with during the day. Too much for the mind. It has to rest. It has to go back into the V on Beyond State and because it has to rest from Impressions, then the Impressions themselves drive you out of that unconscious State again, and of course, there's a punishment, you know in Warfare and prisons and so on they keep you from sleeping and it's not that the body. Needs the sleep. It's the Mind needs to rest from impressions are when you're in that beyond beyond State your all want often thinking that all nature. Oh man. We're all one if we all are asleep here, you know in deep deep sleep. We're all together in that beyond beyond State. It's only when our Impressions start waking except that we begin to feel our Duality our separateness, and that's where dreams come in. Why do you wake up at all? How come when you're in that Beyond and state you ever wake up from it? Well, the original impulse to be could be conscious to know who am I as Baba says the original question those since Karis. Drive you to wake up again. It's your sense karros that drive you to wake up. And the first stage of waking up is often the dream state you're waking up from the beyond beyond State into a dream state and then maybe from the dream into a wake stake. So what are dreams Baba says that they are your since Carrick impressions. Pushing your Consciousness to a semi awake state or what he calls the subconsciousness of duality. And Baba said I read you exactly what he said about dreams. Although the most important work of Consciousness is always done during the waking State dreams also play their part in helping Consciousness through the Maze of problems, which is set it as a rule Consciousness passes through the dream state during the transition from waking to sleep Android while returning from sleep to waking. The dream state serves as a bridge between sleep and waking but it is not an inevitable phase the Mind may swing between Qui Essence and waking without subconsciously passing through the dream face. In the dream state Consciousness is not completely dormant as in sleep nor is it fully active as in waking? The dream state is midway between these two phases and it marks the transition from lat latent Consciousness to act of Consciousness. The unique virtue of the ordinary dream state is that experiences in it are relatively free from the act of willing as well as from the rigid social. Man's with Prevail and conscious life Despite the seeming lawlessness lawlessness of the dream state. It is nevertheless subject to the accumulated mental and emotional impressions are sense Kara's which function as inexorably in the dream state as in the waking many inclinations and desires which cannot find fulfillment in Waking Life seek and find gratification in the self-created subjective world of Dreams. Likewise many fears and conflicts buried in the subconscious mind inflicted upon the dreamer a / diversity of suffering. Abaddon and happiness and a diversity of suffering which the conscious mind would seek to avoid. That's Dreamland also invites the experiencing of the Opposites. The unique characteristic of dream experiences is that they afford an opportunity to work out a number of the sense Cara compressions without creating any new physical bondage. That's very important because you know in Waking Life everything you do this tiniest thing creates this and scare on impression. It adds to your since hearings. Many dreams have the same force and directive value that in here in experiences the waking state but these latter are always accompanied by the simultaneous creation of new emotional and mental impression since cares that proved to be just as binding as The age-old Impressions that limit man's Consciousness dream experiences. However result in no such creation of further bindings, Another interesting aspect of ordinary dreams is that regardless of what the dream and Tails? It has no direct effect upon any mind other than the dreamer. This is quite contrary to experiences in the conscious waking State these invariably involve and affect many other Souls as well. Thus complicating many life patterns. The activity of Consciousness in the waking State creates a bondage of karmic liabilities and assets from which dream experiences are exempt. The dream world is a type of psychic experimental laboratory insulated from the demands of physical life and thus possessing some advantage over the waking state, but because it does not give play to the directive faculty of the will and isolates the individual soul from other cells. It also suffers severe handicaps from which The Waking Life is free. Sababa goes on about dreams, but it's really interesting how he distinguishes that dreams are not your active. Will they are the expression of since cares? And they don't bind and they don't involve other people. In other words. They say you have a dream that you chopped off. Somebody's head. You really haven't chopped off someone's head and it's karma and there but the sense Cara may have been deeply buried in you and working on it and facing it in the dream. So it's very close to some of the psychology of dreams that Have come out in the 20th century Freud and Jung Freud was probably not really an originator because dreams have always had a place in mankind in the culture mankind, but he analyzed them in a fresh way and it created a theory of the mind and young went on from I say on because that's the way I believe he went on ahead froy in studying the nature of the subconscious and and the dreams that it that we do experience. And Bababy goes on in another place to describe about seven different kinds of dreams, which are interesting the dreams where you have since cares that are from the past past Impressions since Kara's and another type of cream which are predictive future. Dreams, which are just from the very most present sense care that you have. And then another kind of dream where they're mixed past and the future. And then there's another kind of dream where you are experiencing the semi subtle world as you know, if you've known your baba, you know in your book God speaks. They're the three main world. The gross world is settle in the mental but in between there's a composite world of the semi settle. And for example, that's in the semi settle is where people most people go and they dropped the body there in the semi settle or not in the cell and not in the gross. And in the dream state you can experience that semi subtle Baba says for example, and this is happening to me and I know quite a few people that you might have a dream so far off dream of a person that has passed away. For example, my mother has passed away. Thank you Stephanie. And so sometimes I dream of her and I we really carry on a conversation, you know, she's in the Sammy subtle, and I'm I'm there with her. The same as in the dream state and the most important kind of dream, however Is I mean for are not most important but very significant dream is a dream which Bible calls a spiritual dream and that is when the master uses the dream state to contact you and Baba wrote a very interesting letter to someone who asked about dreams of Baba. So many people have had dreams about and I hope tonight you're going to share some of your dreams. The two kinds Baba is had basically in this letter which what came to someone else so I don't have a copy but The two kinds there's one where the master himself is like deciding that he wants to contact you and he comes down to a certain level wherever he brings you up to that level wherever and you have a real meeting there in the inner inner World wherever he decides and these dreams are rare and they usually come for real spiritually really a spiritual darshan dream and Several people Nevada world have come to Barbara first through such a drink. I mean that kind of a dream has such an impact and the second kind is like your sense cares. Your dream like Baba says you're in the dream state acting out some stairs. But in that dream state you reach out to Baba. I'm paraphrasing you and you make contact with the atmosphere around Baba. But you call Universal Mind that occur and in that way you still pulled have a dream of baba, but it isn't the same as Baba himself deciding that he's going to meet you and call you such and such a place and give you a star shh. However, those dreams are very effective to but they're often mixed up with their own sense there and they have a certain flavor of some stairs. And I can say honestly I've had both so I can set it is a fast different between them that they're both. They're both very interesting from the spiritual point of view. I'll give you an example from my own experience. I had not met Baba. But Baba gave me some inward experience has helped him because I had to wait 10 years to meet him. That was a long time and we're going through a lot of heavy things not only personally but the world was going through the second world war and then there was Baba has new life beige and it was a lot of tension. You didn't know whether Baba was going to drop the body or not. He kept saying well, there's 99 percent chance of dropping, you know, and things like that. So, For his reasons to probably encourage me, you know, I had this fantastic dream. I also very much wanted to get to India to me him. This is when I first heard about him in New York, but travel is impossible. During the war and so on and I don't remember the exact year of this cream. It is very strong dream. I'm asleep, but I'm sort of in a fantastic place and I'm looking down and it just feels If roses and mini, but I am sort of above him. So and there's Baba sort of standing there with Baba Sai Baba gave me this Embrace and really that inner feeling of contact. Five is it is more powerful in a dream. Sometimes it really is because you see or not. He doesn't have a gross body. You don't have a ghost Betty. So, you know, and I knew that I was standing over, Myrtle Beach. So when I woke up from that it was it was a fantastic feeling of bliss and dashing real real - and a Baba his divinity comes through in those experiences, but the fact that I knew it was Myrtle Beach. I knew I thought about it that I was going to meet Ashley meet Baba in Myrtle Beach. And so I've happened in spite of a dozen other ways that it could have happened. I didn't go to India. I didn't meet him in, New York. Any we didn't know at that time about Myrtle Beach being the place and so on but it's like a prophetic dream. I was is that Baba is saying you will meet me but it will be Myrtle Beach and so it was like a preview of my actual meeting in five of the first time in 1952. Admiral Bates, but some of the other kinds of Dreams they're really nice too. But a typical dream I have of Baba is like I'm in some huge building like the Hollywood roses. Lots of people Milling around just lots and lots of people and I know Baba is and you're certain room and I'm trying to get to see him and they're always people and I just can't get there and you know all kinds of little things happen, and I'm not just an Get there and then through a crack in the door and see bother lying on his bed looking very ill and I want to go in and and see him but some have all I get is this tiny little glance from Volvo, you know, then I wake up. It's like your sanskaras there and it's true your impressions when you're with Barbara's somewhat the same you have always this feeling everybody else wants to see him at all. How will you get to see him in a lie? Get that special little moment with Baba and you feel a pressure of other people. And so this comes back in my dream and then I do get the little plants and I feel very happy and I wake up and it is a real feeling of Baba's like that touched base somewhere, but it is not at all. Like the said that dream that I had so that's kind of like what Baba was trying to explain your own since cares mixed up. The first kind and the second curve and Bababy gives a little bit as adding this in the district about how Master's work and dreams. This is the discourse is on the place of alcoholism and spiritual life. The master usually helps the aspirant through ordinary means and prefers to take him under the veil. But when there is a special indication, he may also use a knockout medium to help him special types of dreams are among the common media which are used for touching the Deeper Life of the aspirant Masters have not infrequently first contacted Aspen's by appearing in their dreams. Sex dreams however have to be carefully distinguished from ordinary dreams in ordinary dreams. The subtle body is active in exercising its functions of seeing tasting smelling touching and hearing but the soul is not using the subtle body with full Consciousness. And of course by over there is talking about the ordinary Rose conscious person. As these experiences of ordinary dreams are received subconsciously they are in most cases purely subjective relating to physical activities and concerning gross living and are the creations of nascent sense cares stored in the mind in some cases. However a dream which is indistinguishable from ordinary dreams, maybe the reflection in the subconscious of some objective experience of the subtle body and not Merely a product of fancy Most dreams are purely subjective and subconscious experiences of the subtle body and they have no spiritual special significance. The rare types of dreams are those about persons and things unknown in this life, but known in some past life or lives still more rare the dreams of persons and things which have never appeared in this life or formalized but are going to appear in this life in the future as we're Baba describe some of the various kinds of dreams. And Bababer goes on to say that you must take a spiritual dream. Seriously, you mustn't doubt it and especially because it has a spiritual significance for you. It's part of your development and I what I was going to bring out tonight the fact that dreams are a part of your development. They're not just passing nothing. I always think of a dream is As a mirror, you know, if you didn't if you have no invention of a mirror, you would never know what your own face looked like so mirror is something that shows you how you look and that's what the subconscious dream is. Its showing you something you would never see ordinarily it showing you part of yourself that you don't see ordinarily and that's why some of the dreams are unpleasant. They're nightmares. They're screwing their weird. They're showing you part of your nature that you ardently don't ordinarily don't see and maybe nobody else tells you are you don't even know or they don't know and Baba if you use dreams to with me, for example, when I first met him to show me parts of myself that I did. I had a lot of strange dreams with Baba and Baba would ask me every morning. How did you sleep it's and I wasn't sleeping at all as having only odd and strange dreams. And then later on the day. He'd asked me to describe the dream and then he would come in on the train. So obviously dreams were important and he's done this with other people too and yet there are other bomb of people who never dream like Market crafted. I never dream. I never had So I think he works with individuals as they are and their particular since carrot makeup. And since I was always interested in dreams and let's say a good dreamer. I remember how I'm used. I was when I read some psychiatrist book ages ago and said people never dream in color and I said, that's just balls. I mean I dream all the time and that's Jessica. And yet so I don't know who he was interviewing. What about that Alan they still believe him. Anyway, so Baba would have me obviously stimulating my dreams and scared and then commenting on I'll give you one example. I had this dream where first I saw this giant some of you heard this voice giant turtle and I looked at and head Baba has eyes. And then I saw a fantastic serpents and I had Baba died. And an elephant I can still see that elephant to this day, but Baba and the fourth thing was a tree a giant tree that you couldn't see the taco and I put my hand on it and minute. I put my hand in it. I knew it was Baba says the next day Baba says, how did you sleep? Yeah, and then I see. Christ kind of smile that later on he asked me to tell a dream so I did and Baba said well now that you see me and everything you don't have to be afraid of anything and later on the next year rather. I did go to a talk by somebody it was giving a talk on the 10 states is the Avatar ten incarnations of Vishnu. And the first I don't know the first one does. Anyway, one of the early ones is the turtle a serpent and elephant. In fact, there's certain sculptures and in Hindi art of the elephant standing on the back of the true. In other words the incarnations of Vishnu of which the tenth one is kalki the White Horse Avatar Bababing. This is in Hindu symbology. So in some way I must have seen also the symbols of God as the energy in For example, the Energy symbol of the snake is very well known in mythology. Every major mythology has the symbol of the serpent energy the libido the Kundalini and so on has many many deep meanings and elephant to choose a symbol of wisdom and so on and the tree is also a universal symbol in Jewish mythology the parabola And Persian assault always Miss Allergies have the tree of life that is planted in the middle of paradise and the top you can't see and so on it symbolizes again the Creative Energy of the universe. So there's more behind A dream, you know, you can analyze one dream, you know, very intensively which example young does and so on. The reason for the language of Dreams being more symbolic than verbal is interesting to it goes back to a more primitive language. It's like Baba says you're in a subconscious state. Subconscious knowledge of Duality and that state the language is a symbolic language effectual language where you take the things of Nature and they have meaning and or abstract symbols have meaning and of course these psychologists have devoted a tremendous amount of time also artists. And Poets have studied the symbology and used it many many great pieces of art collection. I don't know how many of you have studied Auntie's Comet Divine Comedy that you have still have to study that and Colin but for example all through that is the symbol of the Rose and the first is the Rose window and not your Dom and the rose and Sufi poetry. This is like taking an object of nature. And it has a tremendous meaning it has a tremendous shock out meaning has spiritual made and it's used by many many many ways and through the centuries and it will appear in your dreams. Because your language is sort of a universal language on that level. It's like you don't need to translate from French into English. No a dream is a universal thing just like music is universal atone. Anybody can understand the tone and a color and so in that way a dream and the same way when it's used in art it frees you from the separation. You can speak to other people in a way, which is symbology. When you go and see a great piece of art. Let's say the rose window and knocked down you can react to it without being German French Irish or whatever and that's the way your dream speaks to you in a universal language and it was a very wonderful book called The Forgotten Language by Erich Fromm. Going into that and many others to since then to study the language of dreams and I don't mean the gypsy fortune book type, but although that has some roots to and Universal symbology. And when you study the language of dreams, you understand your dreams a lot better and young is gone into that and I think that jungian analysis of dreams if he'd gone a little bit further if he'd met Baba like you I meant to but somehow I didn't and that's an interesting story. You know, it might have been brought up even to a more spiritual level that has so I've heard some very interesting. Thing dreams Baba dreams from people. I'm sorry. Now, I never wrote them all down because they've been really fascinating but I'll give you one example of it. I like that was totally from not about a personage. This is sort of a secretary to place that work and she came in one day. She said oh I had the most amazing dream. She said I was with a whole tremendous proud of people and we were running up to this mountain and on the top of the mountain was this huge figure of Christ the statue of Christ or a beautiful statue and suddenly it cracked. And a man walked out. Very beautiful miss. So what does that mean? Well, I think that's that's pretty obvious. What you've grown. Just what is it? Well, it's the Christ of the last 2,000 years become a cold statue beautiful, but it's Solid Rock. It doesn't live and suddenly it's going to crack and the real Christ is going to come back. Makes sense. So people are having dreams like there another woman in the barbecue but a German lady an elderly lady who got into Baba. She always had difficulty with what she loved bar. But where was Jesus though? You know, it's like a lot of people have that problem because they have priced over here and then they've heard about Baba and they love price and I'm talking about so three times they had this dream she was With a large crowd of people and again, they were on a hill and they were listening to Jesus on the top of the hills like The Sermon on the Mount. And he was giving his first and then Baba comes up the hill and he merges with Jesus becomes one bigger. Now that sounds very simple to tell it but when you dream it when you actually experience that it's a very very powerful thing and she had this dream three times which again sort of a mystical number. Why do always Baba gives you three chances the fairy gives you three wishes, you know, the three kinds of disciple. Anyway, she had this dream and I said but Anna that's so clear. You know, this is Baba telling you that he is Jesus. He was Jesus is the same Avatar. There's not two separate things. It's one who and from that time on that separation that she had was gone. She really kind of felt that Baba was her Jesus. And so that was very powerful. And I've had some similar dreams like that. That's a very interesting dreams one was. It happened Easter morning. That's how mixed up I had this dream of the Buddha Easter morning five o'clock. And here is the footage looks so beautiful. And he was Seated on a fountain of water that had seven layers. Yeah Fountain and around the bottom of the fountain were always people big circle of people in each face was absolutely distinct person. And the Buddha was smiling it was going like this. Now. This was a 1934. I never heard of her. But I remembered those faces. I remember his face and for example those faces around him were the faces of the mom delay when I finally met them. The people in Baba is circle rather than on the yeah people like Duncan the radiance. So Baba was saying a lot of things in those things and then turn and he's saying I am the Buddha I was so good at whatever way you want them. I'm here again. I'm here again with my circle and I'm are you would understand the symbol of the fountain is the plains is seven layers of the Plains the life course applies the Fountain of Life. That's another universal symbol of Grace. No, you can go on interpreting as well and it happened on Easter morning. So he's saying I'm Jesus to so a lot of things like that, mate. Me and there's always like I'm says further along in this discourse on aquifers and you test those experiences is real rather than hallucinations because of the feeling valued. A real contact for the spiritual person has that joy in that Bliss that can last for days. It's a real samadhi. It's a real it's a dharshan, you know and the good effect the feeling of joy and Bliss that you get is very very real and so, you know, that dream is not just a meaningless. In the Jets generation. Oh, yeah, and the same people been profoundly touched by dreams before they ever met Baba. I think dr. Deshmukh. I tried to find it in my papers tonight that I couldn't find the one he had he describes his fantastic Vision in a dream that he had a Baba and Baba the whole universe coming out of Baba in circles of light and so on. It's a very poetic thing and I kept him too. Telling about this screen that he had he heard the name of Baba a through friends, but he didn't know anything about Baba then he had this fantastic dream of Baba and he just accepted Baba and his master in that dream and when he came to Bava Bava acknowledged, you know that he had contact me. So that's what Baba is saying does contact people that way and I'm sure there are people here that have had some I know friend of mine Susan her. Her heard about Baba through me at Mattel. She just sort of well, you know, they are about then she had this dream of Baba as the Buddha and I don't exactly remember the details of the dream, but she was profoundly touched by Baba and that dream so that she just became a bottle of her from then on and that's it. You know, the real experiences. They're the real doctor. Another person who had a really interesting dream experience trying to get all my collection. Was it a woman who has passed away now everyone black show and she had this dream of Baba as Christian and this is how she described it. She was living here in Santa Monica, but she felt that she was trapped in the dream state. She was traveling along and golden thread that seemed Come out of her heart, and she was traveling on this Ray, you know far far away and finally she comes to this sort of Woody place, you know Pleasant place and they're red of light goes right to the heart of the boy Christian and she described him, you know as beautiful as young the black curls anything this beautiful smile. And welcome her welcome here with such intense love and she said oh my Christian Life and Wednesday that was long before she met Barbara when she actually physically met Baba and 52 Myrtle Beach. She didn't see Baba at all. She went into the Lagoon Cam and she did not see me or Baba. She saw Baba as Christian as this little boy not little boys know that so for items and she's there he was he was and she came out. She hadn't seen the physical violence she did later on but it's a she must have had. Very very strong Karma with Baba is Christian. So it's like a confirmation that dream came first the experience and meeting Cava and it all clicked together, you know, like like a puzzle and of course in history have been many many. The Bible is full of Dreams. Somebody has told it up the number of Dreams in the bottom. Of course Joseph and his dreams, you know dreams are really important to people in the past, especially as spiritual messages and so on the American Indians that the whole number on you know, getting your life straight through a special kind of dream. And Many times dreams foretold the future the spiritual Messengers with would help people by fear. Mary, you know had this dream that she would be giving birth to the Christ to the nurse and the mother of Buddha had the same dream of a beautiful white elephant appeared in her dream and bow down to her and entered her womb or something like that. Meaning that the Avatar should give birth to the amateur and Baba's own mother had a dream. Where she saw masses of people coming she was pregnant with all the masses of people coming in like bowing down, you know to to her future child. And so they streams are significant. She also had another dream. I just found recently, you know that well in their house sometime we visited Baba's house there in Pune. There's a well it's now covered her up and she had a Dream that this beautiful goddess came out of the well, all covered in brings all kinds of green jewels and bangles and begged for her child wanted to grab marijuana away from her and she had to save him, you know like this and if she was very frightened in the dream and it's obvious now, you know your dream symbol Aunty this was Maya trying to grab and not long after that. Says in the life story that this snake came to hurt the snake story about Baba and when he was a child the snake came under these cobras came wrapped himself around brawling cams and finds a little more one playing with the sea. And it just slid away harmlessly while she stood there and total shop again. The snake is a symbol of Maya of the negativity opposites of Maya the force of time and so is the green goddess in Tibetan Buddhism. They have Torah Green Goddess symbolizing all the forces of nature. Oh am I? So this Universal symbols happen Baba is always playing with Maya, right?
